My name is David Floegel and I'm a german drummer and percussionist.
I started drumming at the age of six under the care of Friedemann Kuehn, a professional Jazz musician and teacher.
I joined my first band at the age of eight, playing in the students band of elementary school.
In 2006, I met the multi nominated ARIA Award, MO Award and Oz Music Award performer Chris Brien at the "Night of the Drums" in Coesfeld. Chris‘ huge technique and interdependence combined with great musicality awakes my wish to become a professional musician.
Later in 2006, I joined the local bigband "Sax Plus" and played many successful gigs in Northrhine Westfalia. Unfortunately, this band broke up in the mid of 2008.
I also graduated successfully from the well-known Jazz Workshop in Coesfeld under administration of Wolfgang Ekholt (drums), Hartmut Kracht (bass) and Heiner Kleinjohann (piano) - just to mention a few. I joined this workshop once in 2009 and one time in 2010.
At the beginning of 2009, a lot of things changed concerning my career as a musician. In June, I attained to my first studio job in Cologne, Germany where I recorded four tracks for the upcoming album "Into the Brightness of Life" of the German artist "DirtCandle" (Wave Gothic Rock). In January 2010 I was asked to play a gig with the solo artist "Leichtmatrose" (Electro pop) in Muenster, Germany. Since then, I started doing some small studio and live jobs with great success.
In 2011, I began a collaboration with singer/guitar and bass player Marius Borjans from Schwelm, Germany. The first track we recorded together was a song Marius‘ has written for university called "I, Cosmos". We both were happy with the result and decided to record more songs together.
I began taking piano lessons in 2010, under the charge of Heiner Block to expand his musical understanding. When I visited the Sonor Days Festival in 2010, I took the chance and took place in workshops from Dave Langguth (Nelly Furtado), Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), Benny Greb (Stoppok, 3ergezimmer) and Jörg Lesch & Robert Brenner (rudimental drumming). Besides that, I also had some privat lessons with Wolfgang Basler (a worldwide known tutor for rudimental drumming) and graduated from a workshop with Claus Hessler in 2012 - one of the most active clinicians and teachers in the world.
In 2010 I started a teaching activity for "Drumschool Mobil" - the drumschool of his former teacher Friedemann Kuehn.
Since 2012 I've been recording some tracks with world famous bass player Ed Poole, guitar player Pete Wood and piano player Nigel Hopkins.
